Sub-clips are created by selecting segments of a video file using mark in and mark out times.
Once created, sub-clips are regular objects in the repository and all regular actions can be performed on them.
When creating a new sub-clip, you may have the option of creating a sub-clip with its own video content attached as primary content, using the Render Video Content feature. (This availability of this feature is dependant upon the installation of the appropriate products in your system as well as the video type selected.) Otherwise, the new sub-clip does not have its own primary content. Instead, a reference to the parent video document is provided, in the form of a play list document (XML), which is the primary rendition for the sub-clip.
To create a sub-clip, you must have at least Relate permission on the video.
To create a video sub-clip:
Navigate to and select a video file.
Select View > Video Details.
The Video Details screen opens in another window.
Do one of the following:
Click File > New > Sub-clip.
Select the Sub-clips tab and click New.
The New sub-clip: Create dialog opens.
In the Create tab, enter the name, type, and format of the new sub-clip. The default repository location for the sub-clip is the same as the parent video. If you want a different location for the sub-clip, click Browse and find a new location.
Use the embedded video player to locate or manually enter Mark In and Mark Out times. To view the selected segment, use the video player controls. The Mark In and Mark Out times selected are represented in the Timecode In and Timecode Out fields of the New sub-clip: Create screen.
If you want the new sub-clip to have actual video content attached as primary content, representing the segment defined by the start and end timecodes, select the checkbox for Render Video Content.
In the Info tab, enter the appropriate information. If the Edit link appears next to a property, enter the property’s values by clicking Edit and entering values in the resulting page. Values are entered by either typing in the Enter new value box or selecting values from a Select from list box, and by then clicking Add. You can move a value up or down in the resulting list by selecting and clicking Move Up or Move Down. Values can be removed by selecting it and clicking Remove.
In the Permissions tab, enter the appropriate permissions.
Click Finish.
The new sub-clip appears in the list of sub-clips.
