Creating a new collection

By default, any user has the ability to create a new collection as long as they have permission to create new items in the current location. Administrator users are able to restrict collection creation to certain users, groups, or roles. If you are unable to create a new collection using the following procedure, contact your system administrator to request access to this feature.

To create a new collection:

  1. Navigate to the repository location where you want to create the collection.

  2. Select File > New > Collection.

    The New Collection: Create dialog appears.

  3. In the Create tab, enter the following:

    • Name: Name of the new collection.

    • Type: Type of collection. Select either Standard Collection or Video Bin.

      There may be multiple subtypes available for each type of collection.

  4. Click Show Options to expand the list of options.

  5. Select Add to my Favorite Collections if you want to add the new collection to your Favorite Collections automatically. This option is selected by default.

  6. Select Subscribe to this collection if you want to add the new collection to your Subscriptions.

  7. Select the Info tab and enter properties as appropriate.

  8. Select the Permissions tab and modify the collection permissions. You can opt to share the collection with other users and groups.

  9. Click Finish.

    The new collection is added to the repository within the current location.
