Using a file with intellectual property rights

When a file has been assigned intellectual property rights, a Rights icon () appears next to the file in all views except thumbnail view.

If you have the correct permission, you can use (that is, export, edit, view, check out and download) a file with assigned rights in an applicable project and application.

Note

The following procedure assumes that you did not select the option “I acknowledge that the usage of repository assets may be restricted. I agree to adhere to all rules defined in the IP Rights associated with any downloaded content.” when logging in to the repository. Selecting this option means that you will not see any prompts concerning usage when attempting to use a file with IP rights.

To use a file with intellectual property rights:

  1. Navigate to and select a file with assigned rights.

  2. Perform an Export, Edit, Check out, View or Download function on the file.

    The Usage Information dialog appears.

    Note

The Download option is visible only for consumers.

  3. Select the checkbox to usage restrictions on the file. (Click the restrictions link to view the restrictions on the file.)

  4. Enter the name of the project where the file is to be used.

  5. Enter a description of how the file will be used.

  6. Click OK.

  7. If you selected the Export function, select a location where you want to place the file.

  8. Click OK.
