Sub-clips are created by selecting segments of a video file using mark in and mark out times. The Sub-clips tab in Video Details displays all video objects that have been derived from the video object and all of the video’s sub-clips that have been created by users.
Once created, sub-clips are regular objects in the repository and all regular actions can be performed on them. They appear as sub-clips of a video, because they are related to the parent video. This means that when you view the properties for a sub-clip, a new Video Details screen appears, displaying all information that is specific to that sub-clip.
When viewing sub-clips, you may have the option of generating the sub-clip’s own video content attached as primary content, using the Render Video Content feature. (This availability of this feature is dependant upon the installation of the appropriate products in your system as well as the video type selected.) Otherwise, the sub-clip does not have its own primary content. Instead, a reference to the parent video document is provided, in the form of a play list document (XML), which is the primary rendition for the sub-clip. To use the Render Video Content feature, you must have at least WRITE permission on the sub-clip.
To view video sub-clips:
Navigate to and select a video file.
Select View > Video Details.
The Video Details screen opens in another window.
Select the Sub-clips tab.
All sub-clips of the video are displayed.
To create video content for sub-clips, select one or more sub-clips and click Render Video Content.
