Adding a template for use in the PowerPoint Assembly

System administrators or users with system administration access are responsible for adding any PowerPoint templates to the system that users may use when creating new presentations with the PowerPoint Assembly.

For more information on the PowerPoint Assembly and when to apply a template to a new presentation, see Building a new PowerPoint presentation.

To import a template for use in the PowerPoint Assembly:

  1. Open the System cabinet in your repository.

  2. Navigate to Cabinets\System\Applications\PPT_Assembly\Templates.

  3. Choose File > Import.

The Import: File Selection window appears.

  4. Click Add Files.

    The Select Files window appears.

  5. Navigate to and select the PowerPoint template (.pot) file to import.

The file is displayed in the Selected Files window.

  6. Click Next.

The Import: Object Definition window appears in the Selected Files list. You can now change the document name, type or format.

  7. Make any document name, type or format changes by typing the Name and using the Type and Format menus respectively.

    Caution

For PowerPoint templates added here, the document type should always be of type dm_document, or one of its subtypes. The format should always be Microsoft Office PowerPoint template.

  8. Click Finish.

If you have not scrolled through all object definition windows (for each document), then a warning message appears to advise that if you want to apply individual changes to all other files, then review the files using the relevant screen buttons.

The new PowerPoint template is imported to the templates folder.
