You can select an alternate format for multiple renditions in a collection. If the format you want does not already exist in the repository, you can change them to another format using the Transformation wizard.
For example, if your collection consists of three BMP images, two TIFF images, and four GIF images, you can select all of those images and make them available in the JPEG format.
If a rendition in the selected format already exists, it will be available immediately.
If a rendition in the selected format does not already exist, you may initiate a transformation request that will be sent to the server to await processing.
Each item in a collection has an icon, indicating its availability status:
Green bullet () means the selected content exists in the repository and is available.
Yellow bullet () means the selected format does not yet exist in the repository. The format will be available pending a transformation.
Red bullet () means the selected format does not exist in the repository, and the system is unable to perform a transformation.
When viewing a collection after first adding content to it, the status indicator should be green for all items. It is only after performing actions such as requesting transformations that the status indicators may change.
Any transformation requested from within a collection will create only renditions for the items. Creating a new object is not possible. To create a new, related object, see Creating a related object through transformation.
To select an alternate rendition for multiple items in a collection:
Navigate to and view the contents of a collection.
Select multiple items and click Select Format.
The Select Format wizard appears containing the selected items and the formats that are possible for the current formats.
Select the alternate rendition format that you want in the collection for the selected items and click Next.
The Confirm Format page appears showing the results of selecting the chosen format.
If the item has a rendition of that format already, then the status for that item is displayed as green (). These items are available immediately.
If a transformation for the selected format is possible, the status for that item is displayed as yellow ().
If the selected format does not exist in the repository, and the system is unable to perform a transformation, the status for that item is displayed as red ().
Do one of the following:
If the selected format has a status of green (), click OK and you are returned to the collection view where the status for the item is updated or the new rendition format is displayed.
If there are any items with a status of yellow (), click Next and go to the next step to transform to the selected rendition.
Click the Remove link beside a status summary to remove the selected format.
The Transform wizard appears.
If there is more than one transformation available that allows you to achieve the selected format, the Select Transformation tab displays the selected files and the available transformations that are applicable to all of the selected files.
Select a transformation profile and click Next.
The Transformation Details tab may appear if there are any details that may be entered, or are required for the selected transformation.
Enter any information necessary for setting the parameters of the transformation and click Next.
The Rendition Definition screen appears.
If a rendition of this file in the same format already exists, then you can differentiate the new rendition you are creating by giving the rendition a unique identifier in the Rendition Description field and click Finish.
If you are prompted that a file of the same format and description already exists, you can overwrite the existing file by clicking Yes. You can keep both the new file and the existing file by clicking No. A No selection requires that you go back and enter a unique description. This will depend on whether you already entered a Rendition Description in the previous step or if that description conflicts with an existing description for a rendition of the same name and format.
You are returned to the collection view where the status for the item is updated or the new rendition format is displayed.
